Source # 6- Parents Who Host,
Lose the Most
Summary-
This source was something that stuck me as
very valuable even though it was not an article written by a scholar or
published in a magazine. This guide to the laws of purchasing for minors
clearly outlines the your legal obligations as a parent, or a person over 21
who has and plans on purchasing alcohol for minors. “Hosting a Party with
Underage Drinking is ILLEGAL!” reads the title on the top of the page. This
should be passed out to all of the “cool” moms and dads that allow minors to
drink at their home. Furthermore they discuss ways of talking to your children
about it being unacceptable and then it gets down to business. They touch base
on Civil Liability, and Criminal Liability, which could apply to anyone who has
provided alcohol to minors. The final thoughts are those of scare tactics for
parents and a hotline where you can call to report any acts of criminal
activity, not just underage drinking.
Evaluation-
The source
was very nice and helpful for me in my paper and as a document to hold onto. They
are credible because even though this particular document is from the Schuyler
County Commission, this campaign is a nationwide deal. The source defiantly has
a biased opinion but on rightful grounds. They are clearly all against hosting
parties for underage drinking and they make that very clear with the outline of
the charges one can be faced with. This presents a lot of facts which are well
written, and well listed which clearly define the stupidity behind hosting a
party where you allow underage drinking to occur.
