Source # 7- Brain Not Fully
Developed Until age 25
Summary-
This source was a small article and fact list
compiled by Kristen Rollin to address the issue of when the brain is fully
developed. It almost appears to be a running blog that she posts different
facts onto about the topic. I found this online when I needed to find out at
what age the brain is done developing. This article discusses the issues that
arise when we do not fully understand when the brain is done growing. She tells
us that studies show the brain is finally done growing when we are 25 years
old. She gives brief detail on what the last part is to develop, and strangely
enough it is the part that affects our decision making skills. This part is the
final lobe to develop causing young people to make bad choices, in an indirect
way, that is.
Evaluation-
Although this source is not tied to a specific
higher education institution or magazine, her article informs us of important
information about the brain and human mindset while developing. The source was
not biased one way or the other, she managed to stay in the middle of the topic
of drinking and driving and the dangers of young people doing so because of the
lack of development. She uses sources from fellow colleges, MSNBC, and even the
Yale University Hospital. Various points are represented and provide enough
information for me to find exactly what I was looking for with a relationship
between drunk driving, and the development of the brain.
